Looking for a Hero

“Hello, is this Julian Graham?”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Julian, my name is Kelly Harman.  I found your ad on Craig’s list.  You do hardscaping and landscaping, correct?”

“Yes ma’am.”

“Well Julian, I’m looking for a hero and I’m hoping that you are the man for the job.”

“Uhmmm, pardon me?”

“Julian I’m in trouble.  I did a home repair project that turned out great, so I decided I could do anything.  Including lay a new brick walkway in front of our house.  Unfortunately it isn’t going that well, and my husband is furious with me.  I need you to rescue me, Julian.”

“Heh heh heh.”

“Julian, this is no laughing matter.”

“I’m laughing with you, ma’am, not at you.”

“Well, laugh all you want but I need you to go by my house tonight and meet with my husband.  I am out of town and he said he has to interview whoever I find to do the walkway.  I need you to go over there and talk about plumb lines and leveling and show him some of your past work.  Can you do that?”

“Yes, I can.  I can show him all sorts of pictures of work we’ve done and we are very good with levels.”

“Excellent.  I’m going to email you directions to my house.  But Julian, there is one very important thing I need you to do for me.”

“Yes ma’am?”

“When you get to my house tonight, I don’t care how crappy a job you think I have done on that walkway.  Your job is to tell my husband that I was THATCLOSE to getting it right.  Can you do that for me Julian?”

“I’ve got your back, ma’am.”

“Julian, I love you already.  Thank you.”

Footnote:  Julian came over and met with Bob.  They talked for two hours.  He and his crew came over the next day and finished the walkway and it looks beautiful.  He charged a fair price, and I highly recommend him to anyone in the DC Metro area looking for a hero – at least for landscaping.  Julian’s phone number is 571-572-6607 and his email address is ppljuliangraham@yahoo.com.

  2. I am so glad I am not the only woman on the planet who does things like this. Julian sounds wonderful. I may need to borrow him.

  3. Thank Heavens for all those “Julians” out there! We all need a hero now and again!
